Amazon has bought Body Labs – a StartUp from New York. Although the purchase price was not officially confirmed yet, the estimated price, according to the online magazine Techcrunch, is between $50.000.000 and $70.000.000. Body Labs was founded in 2013 and the company is specialized in designing and creating 3D body models which have a versatile field of application. Clothes can be tried on virtually, for example, and especially the computer game sector has high expectation regarding the creation of realistic avatars. Amazon’s interest in Body Labs is likely to be the fitting of clothes in a virtual changing cubicle. With more and more clothes sold on Amazon, the virtual changing cubicle can not only encourage people with their buying decision but it can also help Amazon to drastically reduce the number of orders being sent back.
